ISDN internet access provides connectivity for customers who require greater speed than is possible with ordinary modem connectivity. Since ISDN is a digital service the connection speed for ISDN is typically more reliable than modem access which makes it suitable for LAN connections to the internet.

1st Solution’s ISDN service provides you with:

Local call rate access from anywhere in the UK
A choice of fixed or dynamic IP address assignment
Optional bonded ISDN access provides up to 128K
Mail services on SMTP or POP3
DNS management

Which ISDN services do we provide?

1st Solution provide a full suite of ISDN services which cater for network or standalone service connections over dynamic or fixed IP address assignment.

The specifics of each service are as follows-

Single user ISDN service

Dial up connection provides a dynamic IP address
10MB web space on an Apache web server with ftp upload access
Single POP 3 mailbox with unlimited mail addresses **
Unrestricted TCP/IP access to the internet 24 hours a day
Up to 64KB downstream bandwidth and 64K upstream

** uses addressing in the form of name@yourname.1st-solution.net

This service is designed a single computer requiring a full time fast connection to the internet. It is not suitable for providing a gateway service for multiple machines to access the internet.

Dial up connection provides a dynamic IP address
Unlimited client machine connections to the internet via network address translation **
10MB web space on an Apache web server with ftp upload access
Domain wide POP3 mail on your internet domain name ***
Unrestricted TCP/IP access to the internet 24 hours a day

** requires the use of an ISDN router or Proxy solution

*** requires the use of an internet domain name which can be either transferred in to us or newly registered by us at extra cost.

Typical uses for this service are companies who run their own internal mail server on a LAN which is capable of domain wide POP3 mail collection.

Dial up connection provides a static IP address
Unlimited client machine connections to the internet via network address translation
10MB web space on an Apache web server with ftp upload access
SMTP mail feed to your mail server (with ETRN dequeue support) based on your internet domain name**
Unrestricted TCP/IP access to the internet 24 hours a day

*** requires the use of an internet domain name which can be either transferred in to us or newly registered by us at extra cost.

This service is the ideal connection option for company networks who have their own internal mail server which uses an SMTP mail service for inbound mail (typically MS Exchange).

What do I need in terms of phone lines?

You will need either an ISDN2E line or a BT Highway line. BT offer a upgrade service to provide BT Highway service by converting an existing line to Highway. The Highway line provides both analogue compatibility and the new ISDN service. 1st Solution as a BT service partner are able to arrange this on your behalf to simplify the process.
